Augmented Reality (Part-1)

Augmented reality (AR) is a term for a live direct or an indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input, such as sound or graphics. It is related to a more general concept called mediated reality, in which a view of reality is modified (possibly even diminished rather than augmented) by a computer. As a result, the technology functions by enhancing one’s current perception of reality. By contrast, virtual reality replaces the real world with a simulated one.

Five Supply Chain Sustainability Challenges for 2011

With the global economy turning around, there will be an increased traction and focus on supply chain greening and sustainability. Here are 5 reasons to support this:
Economics - Contrary to popular belief, making the business case for making sustainability ‘operational” within an organizational supply chain is becoming easier, not harder.  With the availability of more data from ‘first movers’, procurement managers, environmental directors, design engineers, marketing/communications staff and operations managers (among others) are able now to make strong business cases in favor of looking at operations through a green lens. In addition, barriers to global trade brought on by increasing environmental regulations, more stringent restrictions on hazardous substances, greater emphasis on lean manufacturing, and increased supplier auditing and verification are creating the critical mass toward a new norm in supply chain management and expectations.  Seeking efficiencies in supply chain management and producing products while reducing waste continue to be a vital imperative in a recovering economy.  Those who neglect to critical evaluate their operations from a sustainability point of view this year will be cast to the side.
Climate Action - Supply chain sustainability is affecting shareholder value, company valuations and even due diligence during proposed mergers and acquisitions, a recent report has shown. It added that shareholder actions on sustainability performance and transparency were up 40% in 2009.  An article in the Environmental Leader in Dec 2010, described how climate change was playing an integral role in corporate supply chain decisions.  A very insightful report by Ernst and Young note that “As carbon pricing becomes established in various jurisdictions, organizations will face risks from compliance obligations. This will impact cash management and liquidity, and carbon-intensive sectors may see an increase in the cost of capital.” Still much work still remains to infuse green thinking in the C-Suite. Little more than a third of those executives surveyed indicated that they were working directly with suppliers to reduce their carbon footprint, or have just started discussing climate change initiatives with their suppliers. Finally, the World Resources Institute is also completing authoritative new supply chain and product lifecycle greenhouse gas protocols that will frame what's expected to be a burgeoning wave of value chain sustainability accounting and reporting.
Disclosure and Accountability - Supply chain management has became widely recognized in 2010 as a key factor in measuring the true “sustainability” of an organizations practices and processes, and ultimately its product or service.  Increased attention will be paid this year on conflict minerals, fair labor and other social aspects of sustainability, ongoing management of hazardous substances in toys and other consumer products, and looking at the supply chain to manage risks and liabilities from product recalls and other environmental impacts of products and services.  The concept of “materiality” in corporate social responsibility and product disclosure (FTC Green Guidelines) and SEC financial reporting is taking on new meaning from a supply chain perspective. ‘Materiality’ in terms of supply chain or network management will require more rigorous implementation and oversight of ethical business practices and practicing proactive environmental stewardship throughout a products value chain.  Suppliers play a key external role in managing the environmental, social or financial issues within the product value chain.
Innovation and Collaboration - the emergence of collaborative opportunities among larger manufacturers creates entry points in the market for smaller, intermediate products manufacturers as well.  Larger companies are identifying the critical supply chain partners that have the greatest product impact and begin seeking ways to collaboratively address the environmental and social footprint of their products through the value chain.  A new report even suggests that consumers will play a leading role behind greater supply chain collaboration. The report, by CapGemini suggests that while suppliers are independently seeking more open, collaborative ways to move goods, consumers may be “… the trigger for an optimized collaborative supply chain flow: this next level of supply chain optimization is based on transparency and collaboration.”  More specifically, “Consumer awareness about sustainability demands a more CO2-friendly supply of products and services”, the report notes.
Life Cycle Design and End-of-Life Product Management - There are increased challenges that the waste management industry is facing, wider attention paid to greener packaging and increased emphasis on financial accountability is being felt in world markets.  Establishing a reverse logistics network that supports life cycle design, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and “demanufacturing” processes will take on higher meaning in 2011.  According to a recent white paper issued by sustainability expert and colleague Gil Friend, EPR is a market-based approach that effectively assigns end-of-life responsibility and product stewardship to producers, requiring them to meet specific targets for material recycling and recovery, relative to the total amount of packaging that they have put into the marketplace. EPR helps to shift the responsibility for collecting packaging and end of life products from financially tapped out local government to producers. But upstream of the manufacturing process, EPR success can be achieved through incentives for companies to take a closer look at how they design products for better end-of-life management (life cycle design). Producers are not alone in addressing the social and ecological impacts of their products. Manufacturers must engage their supply networks to help drive EPR upstream; however, downstream customers play a role too. So producers and consumers should strive in 2011 to continue a dialogue about what to do to improve the profile of consumer products in a way that’s a win-win for all affected stakeholders.

Small Business Ideas

You can find small business ideas all around you. If you can’t afford to make a big investment than a small business is the perfect solution for you. Try to find something with small costs and a good profit. You can be your own boss if you follow a few great business ideas.

Some of the best small business can be made at home. This will be less expensive than renting an office outside the house. You will be able to deduct some of the expenses from taxes. For example a pat of the electricity bill will be considered as business expenses. You can just rearrange a room from your house. That will be your new working space.
Use Internet as your main tool. An on line business will cost you a lot less than an off line one. The income can be without limits. It all depends of the effort you’re putting in it. Depending of your skills, there are a lot of internet business to choose from. You can make your own program and earn as much as you want. Remember that you have to take this seriously. You will not have a fix payment any more. This is why it’s always better to have a reserve of money for when you can’t work.
A good example for an on line business is freelance writing. If your writing skill are god enough, you can get paid for writing articles. You can choose to write about anything you want. There are a lot of companies willing to pay you for product reviews. So all you have to do is to share your opinion about a product you tried. You can calculate your own income. For example if you want 40$ a day you can check how many articles you must write daily.
Another idea for a small on line business is internet marketing. You can create your own digital products or you can become an affiliate marketer. For this business you need a professional website and a lot of targeted traffic. Keep in mind that you need to advertise your sales website in order to attract clients.
For better results you must set up a good working plan. Write down how many hours a day you would like to work. You can even work during the night.
At the beginning of every month you should set up a new goal. Make sure your goals will be realistic enough.

PayPal Account In Pakistan

" you can verify paypal account in pakistan
Why should you verify and How to verify your account?

With verified paypal account you can send and receive money with no limits , people tend to accept only verified paypal account. More information about paypal verification can be found here.People usually ask me how will you verify my account ? , some say Pakistan is not listed in their country list so how is that possible , are you verifying for real and how?.
Well this is no rocket science, Yes  , Pakistan is not in the paypal country list . it means that you can not select pakistan and put your address , bank account , credit card and verify. So is there no chance to verify?
There is , yes , i once visited a website , not a long ago i think in 2008-2009, that offered to verify paypal acount if you send them their fees. They didn't offered any explanation about how it will work.
But i am not going to do that and keep my country men in dark. Yes , You can verify your account if you have Virtual Credit Card. Now what is virtual credit card? , i am not going to cover in this topic you can refer to the link in left.

I will start again here , open a paypal account , select premier , in the country list choose , UAE , i will prefer that , but you can choose any................... but wait ..... be sure you don't select a country that is in paypal receive only list. ..... yes it happened to me once and i wasted one Virtual Credit Card (VCC) on that. One example is Saudia Arabia , if you select that country you don't have the option to "Request Money" in your paypal account. So no one can send you money and you are locked up with your money wasted for a paypal account that is imp***nt (oh sorry for my language.).For phone number you can give your actual phone number eg(00923009834040),for address you can but any , for city and zip search google and give a real city name and its zip code. Now that you have an account goto verify your account and put your vcc details. Paypal will charge some amount to your credit card and will send a code(memo) to veify if you acutally own this Card. Now all you have to do is put that 4 digit code and your verification is complete. Hurray you have a verified paypal account now and you can use it.
About Virtual Credit Cards(VCC).

Well as i said i am not going to cover much about virtual credit cards here , but i thought i should discuss the issues that are only related to finding VCC here , You can find virutal credit card easily. You can search the google for one , or you can just click the link on your left , Yes we also sell VCC , if you don't like to buy from us you can search the web. Our rates of VCC can be found on VCC page. We also allow discount on bulk purchases. And we accept payment via bank deposit , so you don't need to worry about sending payment to us , unlike foreign sellers.
After Verification, Some suggestions.

Now you can use your account without limits , but you need to keeps a few things in mind. I will list them one by one.
Don't use any proxy to open your account. Use your regular internet connection , that you used to register the account.
Some people might argue that , paypal don't operate in Pakistan and they will limit the account if opened from Pakistani IP.
Well my reply to that is , paypal can't do that , they use to operate globally. what if i live in UAE and travel to pakistan and try to access  my account? Should they block my account? why, because I traveled to Pakistan? Well.. this is not going to make in any sense. All have have to do is don't use any proxy , use your regular connection , Clear your cookies before you open your account.
When paying money , ensure that the receiver is trusted. Believe me you might limit your account if you deal with with a scammer. How? i am not going to explain that. lets move further.... don't open a claim ...... never. Yeah , if you open a claim paypal staff may check your account personally and may limit your account and ask for additional identity verification.
Some of you may ask here what is that "Claim"? , claim is some thing that paypal offers to protect its buyers from scam.
If you don't receive the goods after you have paid , you can claim for the refund of the money. Paypal will open a case for you to get your money back , that's called Claim.
And the most important thing.......... Don't accept payment from untrusted source. If a scammer sends you a payment from a hacked account , its most likely that you are going to get your account limited.
Some of you may still be thinking what is that "Account Limited"? , i am sorry i should have explained earlier, In a nutshell limited account means you can not send the money you have in your account.
If you want to find more about it click here.
I have already told you the major tips to avoid Account limitation. And i would like to add one more thing from my experience , After you have verified your account try not receive/send the money for atleast 48 hours , yes about 2 days. Leave the account as it is. You can find some more tips here too. But all these are tips , paypal may still limit your account with apparently no reason.
Ok , thats enough for verification. lets continue.
Receiving Money/Cashing out your balance/Accepting Credit Card.

You can receive money from any one who has a paypal account. You can not load money from your bank account in pakistan nor you receive money in your bank account directly in pakistan. If you want to load some balance into your paypal account we offer this facility. Click on the BUY button on your left to buy some balance now. How it will work? you will deposit money to our bank account and we will send you your required paypal balance. Simple!
About converting your paypal to cash! , unfortunately you can not do that while you are in pakistan. Now you have few options left that are:
1)-Buy some thing online.
2)-Spend on ebay.
3)-Ask your friend that lives in paypal enabled country to recieve and send you the money.
You might be thinking that its not good deal , I want cash by hand. Well there is still one hope left.... you can sell your paypal balance to us.............. but wait, wait..... don't run too fast. We have some conditions and limitations. We accept only from clients that are trusted (with atleast 3 transactions). Have old paypal verified account and we buy only upto our market requirements. Use the contact us page to sell your balance to us , include the amount you want to sell , be sure to check our buying rates first.
Some one asked me that he wants to accept credit card on his website , so can he accept via paypal.
I don't have much knowledge about you can check the website of paypal about that , but i think yes you can accept
My suggestion would be not involve in that. the reason is that credit card owner has the options to get back his money even after 6 weeks. So, it would not be a good deal in my view.

Electric vehicle -Agility Saietta R Bike-

Electric vehicles seem to be all the rage these days, so you might be interested to ride into the sunset with the Agility Saietta R Bike
by Edwin - on April 16th, 2011

– a cool looking two-wheeler that looks as though it comes from the future. Of course, the £13,570 price tag is not going to make it appealing to everybody at first glance, but hear me out as I list down what’s so great about this.
First of all, you need not worry about traffic jams since you can always zip yourself around town on this, squeezing between cars to get from point A to point B within the fastest time possible. Apart from that, you don’t have to cram yourself into public transport like you’re part of a sardine tin, and best of all is, the spare seat behind is perfect for you to pick up chicks (if you’re single, of course) as it looks totally hot.
With the Saietta R’s electric motor in action, all the bulk associated with how a standard bike should look like has been removed, and hence the shape and model have evolved to resemble something from the future. This lightweight and environmentally-friendly dream ride might not glow like something out of Tron, but it will still turn heads around and eyes green as you cruise down the street on this.

Researchers Succeed in Quantum Teleportation of Light Waves

In a real-life use of Schrödinger's theoretical paradoxical cat, researchers report that they were able to quickly transfer a complex set of quantum information while preserving its integrity

This is a Teleportation Device The setup Noriyuki Lee and colleagues used to teleport quantum light. Science/AAAS
The information, in the form of light, was manipulated in such a way that it existed in two states at the same time, and it was destroyed in one spot and recreated in another. The new breakthrough is a major step toward building safe, effective quantum computers.
No felines were harmed in the making of this experiment, which actually studied wave packets of light that existed in a state of quantum superposition, meaning they existed in two different phases simultaneously. This phenomenon is described in Erwin Schrodinger’s quantum mechanics thought experiment, in which a cat is simultaneously dead and alive, depending on the state of a subatomic particle.
In this experiment, researchers in Australia and Japan were able to transfer quantum information from one place to another without having to physically move it. It was destroyed in one place and instantly resurrected in another, “alive” again and unchanged. This is a major advance, as previous teleportation experiments were either very slow or caused some information to be lost. The team employed a mind-boggling set of quantum manipulation techniques to achieve this, including squeezing, photon subtraction, entanglement and homodyne detection. The photo above depicts their device, nicknamed the Teleporter, in the lab of Akira Furusawa at the University of Tokyo.
The results pave the way for high-speed, high-fidelity transmission of information, according to Elanor Huntington, a professor at the University of New South Wales in Australia who was part of the study.
“If we can do this, we can do just about any form of communication needed for any quantum technology,”

Seven Technologies That Will Rock 2011

So here we are in a new decade, and the technologies that are now available to us continue to engage (and enthrall) in fascinating ways. The rise and collision of several trends—social, mobile, touch computing, geo, cloud—keep spitting out new products and technologies which keep propelling us forward. Below I highlight seven technologies that are ready to tip into the mainstream 2011.
Before I get into my predictions, let’s see how I did last year, when I wrote “Ten Technologies That Will Rock 2010.” Some of my picks were spot on: the Tablet (hello, iPad), Geo (Foursquare, Gowalla, Facebook Places, mobile location-aware search, etc.), Realtime Search (it became an option on Google) and Android (now even bigger than the iPhone). Some are still playing out: HTML5 (it’s made great strides, but isn’t quite here yet), Augmented Reality (lots of cool apps have AR functionality, but for the most part it is still a parlor trick), Mobile Video (FaceTime and streaming video apps pushed it forward), Mobile Transactions (Square and other transaction processing options came onto the scene), and Social CRM (Salesforce pushed Chatter, and tons of social CRM startups pushed their wares, but enterprises are always slow to adopt). And one got pushed to 2011: Chrome OS (we are still waiting).
What’s in store for 2011? Some of these themes will continue to evolve, and some new ones will gain currency. Here are seven technologies poised to rock the new year:
  1. Web Video On Your TV: We’ve already seen many attempts to turn the Internet into a video-delivery pipe to rival cable TV: Google TV, Apple TV, the Boxee Box, Roku, and a slew of “Internet-enabled” TVs.  None of them are quite yet cable killers, but they are seeding the market with simple ways to bring Internet video to your large-screen TV in the living room. The more cable-quality video that becomes available over the Web via streaming services such as Netflix, Vudu, or iTunes, the more that people will turn to Web when they are looking for something to watch. This trend is not about surfing the Web on your TV. Nobody wants to do that. It is about using the Internet as an alternative way to deliver movies and TV shows to your flat-screen TV. Even the cable companies will dip their toes into the Internet delivery waters (or plunge deeper if they already have their toes wet). What looks like a pale competitor to cable today will be a lot more viable in a short, twelve months.
  2. Quora Will Have Its Twitter Moment: Social Q&A site Quora may be the current darling of Silicon Valley, but not a lot of people beyond the insular tech startup world actually use it yet. That will start to change in 2011, which I believe will be the year Quora has its Twitter moment and start to really take off. Quora represents a bigger technology trend, which is the layering of an interest graph on top of people’s social graph. On Quora, you can follow not only people, but topics and questions. It defines the world by your interests, not just the people you may know or admire. This is a powerful concept and is not limited to Quora (both Twitter and Facebook also want to own the interest graph), but Quora is designed from the ground up to expose and help you explore your interests. It is addictive, and as it reaches a critical mass of early users, this will be the year it emerges from its shell much like Twitter did in 2007.
  3. Mobile Social Photo Apps:The end of 2010 witnessed a spate of mobile photo apps including Instagram, PicPlz and Path. They all take advantage of several massive key trends: the growth of iPhone and Android, the ubiquity of decent cell phone cameras, GPS, and existing social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare. Each of these apps is built for mobile first. They let you take a picture, mark your location, and share it with your social network (sometimes public, sometimes private). With Instagram and PicPLz, you can choose a filter to make humdrum pics look more exciting or capture a mood. By building on top of existing social networks like Twitter and Foursquare, they are making popular new ways to use those services. Instead of simply checking in, now you can do a photo checkin (even Foursquare lets you do that now). Already Instagram is one of the most popular photo apps in iTunes. Sharing photos is pretty much a universal impulse, and these apps make it easier and more fun.
  4. Mobile Wallets: If you could use your cell phone as a credit card, would you? Everyone from Apple and Google to Nokia want to make that a reality and tap into the mobile payments market. Both Apple and Google are exploring this opportunity. Google bought mobile payments startup Zetawire to gain experience and the latest Android phone, the Nexus S, comes with an NFC chip—the same kind that is embedded into credit cards and lets you pay by waving it over a wireless reader. The iPhone 5 also may come equipped with an NFC chip, and Apple was sniffing around mobile payments startup BOKU last year for a possible acquisition. It is going to take more than just NFC chips in every phone to make mobile payments a reality, but efforts by the major players this year should begin to move the needle.
  5. Context-Aware Apps: Whether it’s search, mobile, or social apps and services, the most useful apps people will keep coming back to are the ones which help people cut through the increasing clutter of the Internet. Apps that are aware of the context in which they are being used will serve up better filtered information. When you search on your mobile phone, that means you get local results and local offers served up first. If you are on a service like Quora that understands your interest graph, it means that you are only shown topics that you care about, sorted in realtime. If you are on a news site, you will see the most shared links from people in you follow on Twitter or are connected to on Facebook. Music and movie services will similarly surface social recommendations. In a world of information overload, context is king.
  6. Open Places Database: Every mobile app, it seems, taps into the geo capabilities of phones to pinpoint your exact location and show you what is around you. (Incidentally, that is another example of a context-aware app). But there is a lot of duplication going on, with everyone from Google to Facebook to Foursquare creating their own database of places. It would make much more sense if there was an open places database that any company could both pull from and contribute to. While we are not there yet, we are making progress towards a more open places database, or at least a federated one. Factual is providing some of the data for Facebook Places and creating a places database is a major focus for the company; MapQuest (owned by AOL, as is TechCrunch) is adopting OpenStreetMaps (which could very well become the central places database with more resources and development); and Foursquare lets other apps pull from its places database through its API. There are economic reasons why some companies don’t want to participate (controlling the places database makes it easier to serve up local offers), but expect to see this movement pick up steam in 2011.
  7. The Streaming Cloud: As all media moves to the cloud, more and more people will stream their movies and music whenever they want to any device. I’ve already mentioned the forces that will bring Web video streaming to your TV, but those movies and TV shows should also be available on your iPads, Android Tablets, or even mobile phones if you want. Expiring downloads will still make sense for plane trips and other places where the network is spotty, but you will manage your subscriptions and collections in the cloud. Think Netflix streaming applied to all media. If Google or Apple can convince the record companies to come along for the ride, the streaming revolution will hit music as well, with both working on jukebox-in-the-sky services. Why would you want to bother with managing all the download rights for the songs you buy from iTunes between your iPhone, iPad, laptop, and your wife’s computer, when you could just sign in form anywhere and start streaming? Plenty have tried with varying degrees of success and failure (Rhapsody, Rdio, Spotify), but it will take someone with the negotiating muscle of Apple or Google to finally bring streaming music to the masses.
